Trent Alvey
Alvey is a mixed-media artist who uses painting, sculpture, industrial materials, found objects, light and sound technique in the creation of her work. Alvey’s sculptural work is included in the Utah Museum of Fine Art and in Salt Lake County’s permanent art collections. Alvey won a Merit Award at the Springville Museum of Art Salon this spring. She is presently painting a 76-foot long wall mural at Central City Recreation Center and is preparing for an upcoming solo exhibition at Finch Lane Gallery in January. Alvey works out of Captain, Captain Studio in Salt Lake City and enjoys the camaraderie with her fellow artists. Alvey holds a BFA in Art from Westminster College. In this series of work, entitled Sacred Geometry, she describes her work as follows, "I have taken icons of ancient knowledge, concepts of physics, philosophy and medicine, introducing them into a contemporary format, exploring dichotomies — strengths and frailties— and systems larger than ourselves.
